Provided curatorial oversight for the university’s performing arts program. Responsible for development, production and management of all aspects related to the Arts & Lectures program including education/outreach, marketing, public relations, operations, fundraising, artist support. Attracted nationally and internationally recognized artists to the program, significantly raising the public profile of the program.
Management and Financial Highlights
Prepared, advocated and managed annual budget ($400,000+), funded from a variety of sources, including ticket income, education fees, student fees, grants and donations. Increased attendance and ticket sales by no less than 20% each presenting season. Negotiated artists’ fees, implemented contracts for performance and education programs. Recruited, trained, supervised and evaluated program support staff, including career, temporary, student assistants and volunteers.
Marketing Highlights
Developed and implemented marketing strategies and publicity programs. Conceived, created, edited and designed quarterly magazine “Arts & Ideas” that served to market the presenting program to the community and introduce it to area businesses through advertising sales. Created, designed, produced season brochure, event flyers, media ads, web site. Wrote Press Releases, Public Service Announcements; liaison with media and cultural organizations.
Fundraising Highlights
Created and developed inaugural fundraising efforts and subscription packages attracting over $75,000 in two seasons from on-campus, corporate and individual donations. Reinvigorated the Arts & Lectures Advisory committee, (comprised of students, staff, faculty and community leaders) establishing clear goals and guidelines for participation. Developed co-sponsorship and donor support as well as fundraising and grant writing.
Engagement Highlights
Created, developed and managed “ArtsXchange” an artist outreach program directed to university students, K-12 students and the community. Significantly enhanced outreach and educations programs with focus on securing campus and community allies and developing appropriate marketing, implementation and evaluation. Initiated the first ever joint arts education collaboration (with Santa Cruz County Symphony and Kuumbwa Jazz Foundation) reaching over 1,500 7-8th graders for a program with Wynton Marsalis and Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra Hired ArtsXchange intern to significantly enhance outreach and educations programs with focus on securing campus and community allies and developing appropriate marketing, implementation and evaluation.
